About John Biernat

Having passed the bar in 2018, John Biernat serves as a paralegal at the Padilla Law Group in Birmingham, Michigan. One of his responsibilities over the past year has been writing summaries that facilitate, evaluate, and arbitrate casework. Mr. Biernat also assists in trial preparation and undertakes intake interviews with law firm clients.

In addition to his legal position, John Biernat holds management responsibilities at La Lanterna Restaurant in Detroit and is tasked with overseeing the work of 10 staff members across operations and documenting daily profits at the end of each shift.

John Biernat spent over a decade working as a patrol officer for the Harper Woods Police Department where he was given various assignments including working with a narcotics suppression task force which involved jurisdictions at local, state, and federal levels. At the same time, he was also attending the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where he earned Dean’s list distinction and was active for three years as an extended-evening student class treasurer. In 2016, he completed a summer externship under Justice David Viviano within the Michigan Supreme Court.

Active as an alumnus member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, he also serves on the Bishop Plagens Council of the Knights of Columbus.
